MG Club gets the Castrol edge
The MG Car Club has secured Castrol Edge as the main sponsor for its African Adventure celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the MGA. The event's entries sold out some time ago and it has attracted a number of overseas crews.
"The Castrol Edge MGA African Adventure takes the form of a 4000km tour to the very tip of Africa at Cape Agulhas celebrating 50 years of the MGA - the car regarded by so many as the epitome of the true British Sports car," event organizer Norman Ewing confirmed.
"The event runs from the 18th to the 28th August as one of many similar events sponsored by Castrol to celebrate the MGA golden anniversary worldwide," Ewing continued. "Gauteng and overseas entries will be flagged away from the AA Boma at Kyalami before proceeding through Fouriesburg in the Free State to Aliwal North for the official start. "Further participants from Durban, East London, and Cape Town will join in along the route."
Overnight stops are planned at Queenstown, Port Elizabeth, Wilderness, Swellendam, Oudtshoorn and the event will finish at Graaff Reinett. Other sponsors include Classic Car Africa magazine, Ferodo, Nationwide Airlines, Flightsure and the AA.
