Pick 'n Pay to sponsor Knysna Oyster Festival
Pick 'n Pay has entered a partnership agreement with Knysna Tourism to sponsor the annual Pick 'n Pay Knysna Festival, which this year takes place from 2-11 July. The festival is one of South Africa's best known and will continue its traditional oyster focus.
This was announced by Jonathan Ackerman, marketing director of Pick 'n Pay Retail, who met with the main role players in Knysna and confirmed that Pick 'n Pay was committed to a five year partnership with Knysna in which the company would assist to add value and grow the festival. Pick 'n Pay's involvement with Knysna includes the Pick 'n Pay Knysna Rotary Cycle Tour and the mid-week Knysna Oyster Festival and the Forest Marathon, which were added this year.
"The festival is well established and has a good infrastructure and from Pick 'n Pay's point of view it offers excellent branding opportunities in South Africa's Favourite Town. It revolves mainly around sport and leisure activities and will be an ideal platform to promote the brand of Pick 'n Pay which is associated with healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle," said Ackerman.
According to the chairperson of Knysna Tourism, Jenny Smith, the Pick 'n Pay Knysna Festival would work together with the Rotary Cycle Tour and the Forest Marathon to maximise media exposure and increase the number of visitors attending the festival. "The festival plays an important role in raising funding for local charity and our goal is to raise sufficient funds from events to build a central multi-purpose facility to benefit all our communities in Knysna."
