Earthchild uses positive affirmation cards to raise funds
Thoughts and words have the power to affect feelings. This power can be harnessed through affirmations - positive phrases that can be repeated, such as "I am beautiful, I am smart, I am kind, I am healthy".
Local NGO, the Earthchild Project, uses affirmations to teach children in townships about the power of positive thinking. The first set of 'I Am' affirmation cards were developed together with designer Leigh Franks from Feel in 2012 as a way of generating income for the Earthchild Project with all profits going directly back into the NGO.
Following on this success, they have decided to do print run number two using the online platform Given Gain where people worldwide can pledge their support and make a donation. The campaign will be running over the next three months in which Earthchild Project is hoping to reach their goal of R80,000 for the reprint. Children around the world will learn how to better care for themselves, each other and the earth and at the same time they will be supporting others less fortunate than themselves to do the same.
