Several new major editorial appointments at Independent Media
Independent Media has made four key new editorial appointments. Editor of the Cape Times, Aneez Salie, has been appointed as the editor-in-chief. He is now responsible for the overall editorial oversight of the group.
Yogas Nair has been appointed as the deputy editor-in-chief. Nair, who was the editor of The Mercury prior to this appointment, will work alongside Salie to ensure the quality of Independent Media's editorial content.
Siyavuya Mzantsi replaces Salie as the editor of the Cape Times. Mzantsi, 26, is not only the youngest person to hold the position, but he is also the first black African editor of the Cape Times.
Melanie Peters has been promoted to the position of editor of Weekend Argus Sunday. Peters was the acting editor of the newspaper for the past 19 months.
