The Forum of Community Journalists has announced that one of its members, Zaidi Sipho Khumalo - publisher, owner and editor of the Gauteng-based Kathorus Mail - will attend one of the world's biggest gathering of editors.
The annual conference, organised by the Commonwealth Press Union (CPU), will this year be held in Sydney, Australia from February 20 to 22. About 35 senior editors from 23 countries as well delegates from smaller and emerging publishers are expected to attend the event. The conference will be followed by a CPU Biennial from February 23 to 25. Khumalo, who will be sponsored by the union, is also a director of Association of Independent Publishers of Southern Africa.
"I'm extremely excited about being invited to attend this conference. I believe that this is the dawn of a new era for small publishers in South Africa," said Khumalo. He said it was the first time for him to attend a conference of this nature.
