Cape Wine Academy appoints new principal
Heidi Duminy has been appointed as the Cape Wine Academy's new principal, replacing Harry Melck who vacated the role to pursue personal interests. Melck will, however, still support the academy in his capacity as vice chairman and member of the educational committee of the Institute of Cape Wine Masters.
Dummy has extensive marketing and communications experience in the wine industry having worked as a marketing manager at Meridian Wine Merchants and trade marketing manager at RGBC for Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy in South Africa and group communications for DGB. She also serves as a judge on several panels, including Amorim Cap Classique Challenge, Veritas, and Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show.
"The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated a new age of learning to inspire an inclusive wine culture, and I am excited to advance the dynamic learning experiences that have been initiated without losing the essence of the Cape Wine Academy established over 40 years by heroes of our industry," Duminy said.
