About us 

We are a publishing company specialising in educational materials for TVET colleges in South Africa. We are looking for a qualified and experienced Heavy Current Electrical expert to develop textbooks aligned with the TVET curriculum. 

Job description 

The selected author will: 

• Develop Heavy and Light Current Electrical textbooks for TVET colleges, ensuring alignment with DHET's QCTO, NCV and Nated standards. 
• Write clear, structured, and engaging content that simplifies complex electrical concepts. 
• Include diagrams, illustrations, and step-by-step explanations (working with our design team). 
• Ensure compliance with South African electrical codes and health and safety regulations. 
• Work closely with editors and subject matter experts to refine content. 
• Meet project deadlines and respond to editorial feedback. 

Requirements 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering (heavy current). 
• Trade test certification as an electrician (advantageous). 

Experience: 

• Minimum 3-5 years working in the heavy current electrical engineering industry. 
• Minimum 3-5 years teaching experience at a TVET college or similar institution. 
• Previous experience writing training manuals, study guides, or textbooks would be advantageous. 

Skills: 

• Strong technical writing and communication skills. 
• Ability to structure complex topics into easy-to-understand content. 
• Knowledge of South African electrical standards and regulations. 
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet strict project deadlines. 
• Attention to detail and adherence to company quality and formatting standards.
