Overview
A DTP art director at 99c is a skilled publishing artist responsible for executing product-and-price campaigns across various media.
Responsibilities
Layout ability
- Produce layouts using approved campaign templates, product and price data, and imagery from the agency’s integrated workflow database tools.
- Adhere to all formatting requirements, including sizes, typographic rules, column widths, kerning, styling, and layout specifics.
- Select, use, and check all colours against brand guidelines, corporate identities, and campaign toolkits.
Technical skills
- Use agency-licensed DTP software (Adobe Creative Suite, primarily InDesign) to create advertising layouts.
- Work within the 99c workflow management system (Workbook) for briefs, job-related communication, and timesheet management.
- Utilise client-managed RMS (Retail Management System) software for all necessary DTP outputs, ensuring adherence to approved systems and workflows.
Process management
- Meet all deadlines, including tight turnarounds, and ensure that workflow processes are never delayed.
- Fully understand and follow agency DTP processes for communication, circulation, finished art checks, and disking.
- Adhere to the finished art handover checklist, ensuring jobs move systematically through the approved workflow without skipping steps.
Attention to detail
- Maintain unwavering focus on accuracy, ensuring all product details, descriptions, pricing, SKUs, and specifications align with client or retailer data.
- Double-check all pricing and promotional offers for accuracy and updates.
- Ensure consistent structure and visual hierarchy in layouts for readability and a seamless customer experience.
- Verify correct placement of product images, pricing, and copy in line with brand guidelines.
- Review layouts for typographical errors, inconsistent font usage, or incorrect pricing.
- Confirm consistent pricing format, currency symbols, and discount details across all promotional materials.
Qualifications
- Diploma in desktop publishing or art direction (highly beneficial).
Experience
- Minimum two years’ experience as a DTP artist or DTP art director within an advertising agency, production bureau, or digital environment.
Desired skills
- Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, and macOS proficiency.
- Figma experience (advantageous).
- Retail business experience (advantageous).
