Research and produce compelling programming that enhances Power 987’s brand and listenership.
- Producers are expected to understand the purpose and format of Power 987.
- Understands the audience profile i.e. characteristics of their target audience
- Facilitates regular brainstorming sessions with co-producers and presenters of the show to ensure a rich flow of ideas that keeps the show fresh and evolving.
- Receives input and support from the head of programming and head of content in terms of how to build and structure the show in line with the Power 987 brand.
- Works closely with the news team to stay abreast of breaking or developing news and maximises opportunities that help both news and programming to own a story.
- Evaluate and follow up on leads or tips to develop story ideas either by investigating further or handing them over to the news.
- Researches and analyses background information related to stories in order to determine a Power angle that takes the story forward and meets the station's audience profile.
- Ensures that all facts provided to the presenter are accurate and from reliable sources.
- Acts responsibly and ethically when choosing guests and talk points ensuring that decisions are not influenced by self-interest and will not bring the company into disrepute.
- Puts together a comprehensive running order that meets the needs of the presenter and sound engineer.
- Responds to audience feedback, and determine how this feedback can be used to improve programme content and quality.

- A basic understanding of the law, ethics and industry regulation as they affect radio production.
- Interpretation of information is the ability to generate original ideas and to think creatively about how to communicate them.

- Computer skills - a high level of IT skills. Ability to conduct effective internet research, use relevant computer software for audio editing etc.
Required knowledge areas- Understand the purpose and format of their station or programme; be aware of the characteristics of the target audience; and have knowledge of the subject matter of the output.
- Knowledge of the Radio market, different station and programme styles, and audience demographics.
- A good knowledge of subjects relevant to POWER 987.
- Knowledge of when it is necessary, and how to acquire, the relevant clearances and licenses, including copyright and music. clearances.
