Job description:
Condé Nast seeks a dynamic and experienced Fashion Director for GQ. This pivotal role is responsible for conceiving, developing, and delivering compelling fashion content across all platforms.
Key responsibilities:
- Write, edit, produce photo shoots, and create original fashion features.
- Contribute fashion content to digital platforms as needed.
- Collaborate with brand development, marketing, and sales teams to define GQ's fashion editorial direction.
- Develop and maintain brand appeal for both audience and advertisers.
- Contribute to commercial fashion and editorial concept development and execution.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with advertisers and commercial partners in the fashion space.
- Stay informed about industry trends through publications and networking.
- Meet with designers and industry insiders to understand emerging trends.
- Style and produce shoots for non-fashion editorials and advertorials, as required.
- Conceptualise, present, and style fashion pages in line with GQ's aesthetic.
- Represent GQ's fashion interests internally and externally at industry events and conferences.
Minimum requirements:
- Matric qualification.
- Bachelor's degree in fashion, journalism, marketing, or a related field preferred.
Work experience:
- 5-10 years of experience in fashion, styling, or editorial roles.
- Prior experience as a fashion editor, stylist, or senior fashion buyer.
- Experience in brand management, content creation, and runway/show production is a plus.
- Ability to curate luxury fashion, predict trends, and define GQ's fashion direction.
- Strong background in directing high-fashion editorials, cover shoots, and trend reports.
- Experience directing fashion shoots, working with photographers, and curating content.
- Experience working with designers, models, and brands for partnerships.
- Understanding of fashion marketing, social media influence, and digital content creation.
- Established network within the global and local fashion industry (designers, brands, agencies).
- Ability to bring fresh perspectives to GQ's fashion content, ensuring relevance and exclusivity.
- Ability to manage teams, liaise with designers, and negotiate contracts.
- Strong portfolio of editorial styling, campaign shoots, and brand collaborations.
