A dealership in Paarl is urgently looking for a diagnostics technician to join their team.
Duties:
- Vehicle diagnostics and troubleshooting – use manufacturer-specific diagnostic tools (e.g., Stellantis wiTECH, DiagBox, Multiecuscan) to identify faults in engine, transmission, electrical, and other vehicle systems. Perform fault code analysis and root cause identification for complex issues.
- Electrical and mechanical repairs – conduct repairs and replacements based on diagnostic findings, focusing on electronic control units (ECUs), sensors, and wiring issues. Work on engine management, ABS, airbag, transmission, and infotainment systems.
- Software updates and ECU programming – perform software updates, coding, and reprogramming of vehicle control units using Stellantis-authorised tools. Ensure vehicles have the latest firmware and recall updates applied.
- Technical reporting and documentation – maintain detailed records of diagnostic tests, repairs, and parts used in dealership management systems. Report complex issues to Stellantis technical support or engineering teams for further guidance.
- Customer and workshop support – provide technical guidance to workshop technicians on complex vehicle issues. Explain technical findings and repairs to service advisors and customers in an understandable way.
Requirements:
- Stellantis background
- Target driven (required to reach target hours)
- Automotive trade certification (Red Seal, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent)
- Stellantis brand-specific training or manufacturer certifications (e.g., FCA, Peugeot, Citroën, Jeep)
- Expertise in using Stellantis diagnostic tools (e.g., wiTECH, DiagBox, Multiecuscan)
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, troubleshoot electrical systems, and diagnose mechanical faults
- Familiarity with ECU coding, reprogramming, and software updates for modern vehicle systems
- Knowledge of CAN bus networks and vehicle electronics
- Ability to analyse complex faults and find the most effective repair solutions
- Strong attention to detail in diagnosis, repair, and documentation
- Ability to explain technical issues to service advisors and customers
- Work well with workshop teams and technical support staff to ensure quality repairs
