Job description- Lecture and assess contact learning and distance learning students in the in BEd (Foundation Phase Teaching) and BEd (Intermediate Phase Teaching) following modules: Teaching Home Language Afrikaans (THLA20), Afrikaans Home Language 1 (AHL100), Afrikaans First Additional Language 1 (AHL100) and Literacy Afrikaans First Additional Language (LAA302)
- Perform the role and responsibilities of the module coordinator (MC).
- Compile teaching, learning, and assessment materials.
- Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
- Participate in relevant programmes, curriculum, and material development.
- Carry out allocated internal moderation responsibilities. Carry out invigilation of venue-based assessments as the Registrar’s Office reasonably requires.
- Participate in school-based Teaching Practice assessments.
- Provide academic support to students.
- Complete all Quality Assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes.
- Participate in research and community engagement projects.
- Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
- Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
- Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
- Fulfil functions on relevant committees, and in meetings and workshops as reasonably requested by management.
- Fulfill all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager
Requirements Minimum Qualification Requirements: - Minimum Bachelor of Education Honours or equivalent qualification with relevant study in Afrikaans Home and First Additional Language
Minimum Experience Requirements: - At least 3 years of teaching and/or lecturing experience in Afrikaans Home Language and Afrikaans First Additional Language for the Foundation and Intermediate Phases.
- Excellent Afrikaans communication skills.
- Experience in curriculum and materials development.
- Experience in online and blended teaching and learning environments.
Attributes: - Sound teaching and assessment skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational, time management, and coordination skills with the ability to multi-task, work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
- High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to cope with change.
- Willingness to work when required on Saturdays.
