ISO/TC 211 Geographic Information/Geomatics is responsible for the ISO geographic information series of standards.
Many bodies are actively engaged in the work of ISO/TC 211. These include national standardisation bodies, the OpenGIS Consortium (OGC), international professional bodies (such as FIG and ICA), UN agencies, and sectoral bodies (such as DGIWG and ICAO)
Their work links to appropriate standards for information technology and data where possible, and provide a framework for the development of sector-specific applications using geographic data.
AfriGIS formed part of the delegation representing South Africa. Our focus and commitment in being a part of the organisation is to always ensure and achieve our goal of compliance.
AfriGIS is involved in various working groups surrounding the topic of addresses.
AfriGIS embraces the concept of compliance and interoperability. We continue our involvement in the GIS community via with our participation in the TC211 forum.
The next ISOTC 211 meeting is set to take place in June 2016.
