Good progress is being made on construction of the 147-room City Lodge Hotel Dar es Salaam in Tanzania’s capital city.
The project started in mid-May and the hotel is expected to be completed and opened to the public towards the end of the fourth quarter of 2017. It will be the City Lodge Hotel group’s fourth hotel in East Africa.
The eight-storey hotel (including basement parking) is situated in Magora Street in central Dar es Salaam and will have features such as three meeting rooms, a mini gym and a swimming pool. It will also have basement parking for 32 vehicles.
“We’re excited about adding Tanzania to our growing East African footprint and look forward to City Lodge Hotel Dar es Salaam becoming an important member of our growing family of hotels in East Africa, the SADC and South Africa,” said Clifford Ross, the chief executive of the City Lodge Hotel Group.
The group already has two hotels in Kenya – the Fairview Hotel and Town Lodge Upper Hill, Nairobi – and is also developing a 169-room City Lodge Hotel at the Two Rivers mixed use development in Runda, a new growth node in Nairobi.
Although construction on City Lodge Hotel Dar es Salaam began before the recently announced 151-room Town Lodge Windhoek in Namibia, it will open a few months after Town Lodge Windhoek to become the 60th hotel in the group.
