The Department of Defence and SA National Defence Force, this week, confirmed their participation at the Rand Show for a further three years, namely 2018, 2019 and 2020.
“The SA National Defence Force will be partnering with the Rand Show and Johannesburg Expo Centre for the next three years,” said Mr Siphiwe Dlamini, Head of Communication for the Department of Defence. “We view the Rand Show as the perfect platform at which to inform the public of the capabilities of the SANDF and to demonstrate to South Africans that the SANDF does not only engage in combat missions during wartime but plays an important role serving communities during peacetime.”
“We are delighted to welcome the SANDF back on board for a further three editions of the Rand Show,” said Craig Newman, CEO of the Johannesburg Expo Centre. “The SANDF’s participation at the Rand Show provides South African families with an opportunity to connect with the organisation and to learn more about their role in society.”
SANDF Career Exhibition
The SANDF Career Exhibition provides families with insight into the diverse career opportunities available within the SANDF. “Our efforts of contributing towards economic development is something we take pride in and we hope to raise awareness of the opportunities within the SANDF through this programme,” says Dlamini.
Enjoy an up-close and personal interaction with SANDF’s equipment
The 10,000sqm SANDF static display provides the public an opportunity to get up-close and personal with an impressive array of military equipment.
The skilled SANDF communicators will also be on hand to inform the public of the uses of the equipment as well as the roles of the different divisions within the four arms of the SANDF, namely the SA Army, SA Air Force, SA Navy and SA Military Health Services.
Explosive arena action over the Easter weekend
The Official Opening of the Rand Show will be presided over by the SANDF with flyovers and parades kicking off proceedings.
Easter weekend sees the SANDF Capability Display in the main arena that will set hearts racing with the explosive bangs of simulated battles and thunder of helicopters providing air support. Balancing this adrenaline-fuelled programme will be precision drill teams and military bands displaying their prowess.
With so much on offer the SANDF’s participation at the 2018 Rand Show is once again set to wow the show’s hundreds of thousands of visitors.
Note: The SANDF Arena Programme taking place from Friday, 30 March, to Sunday, 2 April 2018, is subject to change at short notice due to availability of equipment, weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
