Her career started at Ernst & Young as an auditor, where she served her articles to become a chartered accountant. Specialising in internal auditing for a brief period she then moved to the then ABI Bottling Company as a management accountant. This role saw her reignite and nurture her passion for community development and building capability in the management of this ambit.
Currently focusing on the broad spectrum of sustainable development issues as they impact business, Gaopaleloe has made a significant impact in the recycling space where she has won awards for programmes that she implemented in the recycling business and education of young children. Part of her role has been to develop and articulate sustainable development strategies and to profile ABI, one of the merging entities making up Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa. ABI reflects best practice in the sustainable development fields of packaging, waste reduction and management, water and energy usage; and has won various awards. Developing strategies that leverage educational programmes has been a key focus on projects she implemented. As the head of Sustainability and Transformation in the newly formed CCBSA, she positions the company for future success.
