Lindie Stroebel is the General Manager for the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) in Southern Africa. Since her appointment, in February 2016, Lindie was tasked to formalise and build on the value proposition PMA extends to its members in the region. Accordingly, she serves the southern African fresh produce sector as a thought leader and industry reference, connecting local PMA members with global and local connections in trade, information and trends.
Lindie matriculated from Newcastle High School and did her tertiary education at the University of the Free State (UFS). In 2005 she was awarded best Honours student in agricultural economics at the UFS, where after she obtained her MSc Agric degree with distinction in 2006. She participated in an exchange student program in 2001; at the Virginia Polytechnic and State University in the USA. Between 2003 and 2006 she worked as a researcher and later lecturer in agricultural economics at the UFS.
Lindie also completed a post-graduate diploma in Agricultural Research for Development at the International Centre for Research in Agriculture (ICRA) in Wageningen, the Netherlands, in 2005. Lindie joined the Agricultural Business Chamber, (Agbiz) from 2006 until February 2016, as the manager of agribusiness intelligence.
As she specialised in the field of competitive positioning and policy negotiations for agribusinesses, she acted on various councils, forums, committees and task groups to negotiate for and establish an enabling policy environment for agribusinesses in South Africa.
She also headed up various studies, research and intelligence initiatives related to the agribusiness industry. Since 2015, Lindie serves as an extraordinary researcher at the TRADE research niche area, under the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at the North West University (NWU). She maintains her link with research whilst with PMA.
Lindie is married to Louis. They live in Pretoria with their two small kids, Lia and Ettienne.
