Husband, Parent, Muslim, Community Man, Broadcaster, Entrepreneur, South African ... Good Guy Insha Allah.
Ashraf Garda's on air conversations flow from marketing to branding, from the state of South Africa to the future of Malema, from the newest technology to social media, from the treatment of our prison inmates to the treatment our prison inmates give to our constitution He is at the centre of South Africa's dialogue and debate because he is in fact at the centre of broadcasting excellence. His bread and butter is hosting the daily talk show - Afternoon Talk on SAfm between 2-4 pm but he is also the presenter of the Sunday morning Media@safm show which is the signature media and marketing show on national radio. And to complete his hat-trick he is the host of Special Assignment -the investigative journalism TV show on SABC 3 Wednesday's at 9pm. And to complete his cycle of versatility, he was used as a 2010 World Cup analyst on CNN ,AL Jazeera and CBC TV Canada. He is described as sharp ,authoritative, witty, entertaining and always objective by listeners and he's sense of fairness has been recognised by the South African Turkish Turquoise Harmony Institute(THI). In March 2012 he was the recipient of the THI's Media Dialogue Award. And when he's of air -he pursues a strong interest in his great passion, as a witty and authoritative MC at corporate and social functions. Ashraf has also been a judge on various platforms viz The Virgin Active Sport Industry Awards, The PR industries Prism awards and the advantage AdMag awards. He's entry into media came by chance - a brief stint at Community Radio Radio -Az Zaheer followed by The Voice 95.4 fm. These community involvements turned Ashraf's career around from Fashion Fabric importer to a Media personality of note. Small wonder that he often uses two quotes to sum up his attitude to life: "Never bored, never boring" and "Make every 5 minutes count".
