Highbury Media T/A Habari Media is an independent magazine and digital publishing company responsible for some of the best-performing titles. We are currently looking for a Writer for our SA Rugby brand.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Daily updates on the SA Rugby website
- Compile weekly regulars such Saffas Abroad and school wraps
- Writing features for SA Rugby print issues
- Generating content ideas
- A willingness to develop writing and editorial skills
- News-pick the most engaging stories available on the Early and/or Late scan shift
- Compile, update, and work to a weekly diary based on the schedules of relevant team and/or competitions
- Write original news stories using quotes from players/coaches/administrators
- Write news stories using information from press releases or other sources
- Write opinion pieces when required
Requirements:
- Show a willingness to develop writing and video skills and grow within the company
- Ensure all content produced is factual, engaging, reader-friendly and of a high standard
- Show an understanding of writing for different audiences, including adapting language and tone
- Develop your sources and contacts within professional networks
- Show initiative and the ability to work unsupervised
- Exercise good time management and meet all deadlines
- Fact-check and self-edit all work
- Good time management skills
