Our client, a leading IT and fibre optic network (FNO) provider, is seeking an innovative FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) splicer to join their dynamic team in George, Western Cape.

Key responsibilities

• Perform fibre optic splicing, termination, and testing for FTTH installations.
• Read and interpret fibre optic network schematics and blueprints.
• Utilise fusion splicing and mechanical splicing techniques to join optical fibres.
• Conduct fibre optic testing using OTDR, power meters, and other testing equipment.
• Install and maintain fibre optic cables, enclosures, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues and system malfunctions.
• Collaborate with team members to plan and execute installation projects.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and company policies.
• Maintain accurate records of splicing work, inventory, and project documentation.

Requirements

• Proven experience in FTTH splicing and fibre optic installation.
• Proficiency in using fusion splicing machines, OTDR, and other fibre optic testing tools.
• Strong understanding of fibre optic network components and systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation.

Salary: R8,000 – R15,000 depending on experience
