Job description: Electrical assistant

Location of company: NEP - Ferndale, Randburg
Location of project: Nelspruit
Reports to: Operations manager

Qualifications and skills

• Grade 12
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Deadline driven
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented
• Ability to follow instructions
• Highly motivated individual with strong self-management skills
• High level of trustworthiness and ethical conduct
• Physically fit to meet the daily demands of an electrical assistant
• Willingness to travel to sites
• Ability to work in a typical electrical work environment

• Installing and fixing flush and surface-mounted wireways, PV support structures, and related components
• Installing cables, including fitting glands, making off, and securing cables, but excluding connections
• Installing and connecting socket outlets
• Erecting and connecting luminaires and PV panels
• Operating a trenching machine
• Performing the duties of an electrical assistant and general assistant
• Assisting a master installation electrician, installation electrician, electrical tester for single-phase, electrician or artisan, and an Elconop 2 or Elconop 3, without performing work individually except as listed above
