The Food For Mzansi Group, home to South Africa’s leading agricultural news platform, Food For Mzansi, and its sister publication, Health For Mzansi, is seeking a creative and driven social media journalist intern to join our vibrant team in Paarl, Western Cape. This six-month internship provides an exciting opportunity to grow your career in social media and digital journalism while working in a fast-paced and innovative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Create engaging, platform-appropriate content for the Food For Mzansi Group’s major social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, and more).
• Develop multimedia content, including videos, reels, podcasts, and graphics, that resonate with our audiences.
• Plan and execute social media campaigns to support editorial goals and audience engagement.
• Monitor audience trends and behaviours to ensure content is timely and relevant.
• Collaborate with the editorial team to repurpose content and develop new storytelling formats.
• Track and report on social media performance metrics, providing actionable insights.
• Assist with brainstorming and planning new content ideas aligned with the Food For Mzansi Group’s brand as well as client brands.

Required:

• A tertiary qualification in journalism, media, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of major social media platforms and their unique requirements (e.g., Facebook video specs, TikTok trends).
• Working skills in multimedia recording and editing software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Premiere, or equivalent tools).
• Creative mindset with a strong sense of current social and cultural trends.
• Ability to analyse social media data and adapt strategies to optimise audience engagement.
• Highly organised and able to execute multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Driver’s licence preferred.
