The IIE’s Vega, Cape Town Campus, has a vacancy for a part-time academic navigator (lecturer) for the second semester in the following module: Programming logic and design

Job purpose:

Lecture based on provided content, ensuring students are guided and supported in their learning. Mark student submissions and engage with campus teaching and learning.

Key performance areas:

• Prepare for lectures based on provided content, supplementing it with your own expertise
• Deliver assigned modules to the stated outcomes and contracted hours
• Mark student assessments and provide constructive feedback
• Support student academic success by implementing workshops where needed
• Perform academic admin, such as capturing assessment marks and reporting on student success
• Provide content feedback
• Engage with professional development opportunities and attend initial training sessions

Minimum qualification requirements:

• Ideal:
  Honours in information systems or computer science
• Alternatively:
  Honours degree in one of the IT/computer-related fields with programming or a similarly related field to the third-year level
  Bachelor’s degree in programming or a similarly related field to the third-year level, plus a postgraduate diploma in a related field or in education

Minimum work experience requirements:

• Lecturing experience in programming
• Alternatively:
  Work experience as a software developer, application developer, or programmer
